Norbury High School for Girls, our secondary academy in Croydon, has been judged ‘good’ following its recent Ofsted inspection. The school has been consistently rated good since converting to an academy ten years ago.
The school was described as a ‘diverse community where pupils are valued as individuals’ with inspectors noting that ‘bullying is extremely rare’.
‘Pupils are articulate, and their confidence shines through. They achieve well and take pride in their work. They behave respectfully and are keen to learn.’ – Ofsted, 2022
Students, the inspectors’ report notes, are motivated by the ‘ambitious curriculum’ and ‘high expectations’ with extracurricular opportunities and the pastoral programme helping them to ‘develop resilience and self-confidence’. As a result, students ‘from year 7 through to the sixth form’ are ‘achieving well’.
Mrs Hayden, Headteacher, said ‘I am incredibly proud of the staff and students at this school.’ She praised ‘the immense efforts that go into making this school the vibrant, engaging, lively learning environment that it is’ and thanked staff for ‘working tirelessly throughout the Covid-19 pandemic to continue to maintain high standards despite extremely adverse conditions.’
