Students at Norbury High School for Girls recently took part in a ‘bake off’ challenge.

An initial field of 12 entrants was whittled down to six students from years 7, 8 and 11 who were called upon to put their baking skills to the test in the grand final on Monday 13th January.

All six competitors performed exceptionally well and the contest was a close-run thing. But, with help from the school’s guest judge, Omo Bakes, a local independent baker, a clear winner eventually emerged.

First prize was awarded to Shayma Zerrouk (pictured) for her incredible three-tier, layered snowman cake.

In the academy’s associated inter-house contest, it seemed fitting that Hussain House (named after Great British Bake Off winner, Nadiya Hussain MBE) garnered the most points overall (160). Hadid House came second, with 120 points, while Asher-Smith (80 points) and Reid (40 points) came third and fourth respectively.
