For a fourth year in a row, children at Kensington Avenue Primary School (KAPS) took part in the Grow Your Own Potatoes project. Members of our primary academy‘s Gardening Club planted seed potatoes and nurtured them with care before harvesting them to make some delicious chips!

Launched in 2005, Grow Your Own Potatoes (GYOP) was one of the first growing projects based in primary schools. Since then, it has become the largest of its kind with over six million children taking part to learn where potatoes come from, how they grow and the vegetable’s health benefits. The straightforward and hands-on nature of the GYOP project makes it perfect for young students.

We are very grateful to the project for providing our KAPS students with a free growing kit containing two varieties of seed potato and easy to follow instructions.
