KAPS Students Grow Their Own Potatoes

For a fourth year in a row, children at Kensington Avenue Primary School (KAPS) took part in the Grow Your Own Potatoes project. Members of our primary academy‘s Gardening Club planted seed potatoes and nurtured them with care before harvesting them to make some delicious chips! Students at Norbury High School for Girls have once again received international accreditation for their exceptional work in promoting sustainability and raising environmental awareness among their peers at the secondary academy. The Eco-Schools programme, established in 1994, is now implemented in over 70 countries worldwide. In 2023/24, more than 1.4 million students attended an Eco-School in England. KAPS Students Explore Hispanic Culture

Students at Kensington Avenue Primary School (KAPS) recently enjoyed a series of activities focused on the art and culture of Spain and Spanish-speaking countries. The ELP group looked at Mexico and the work of Frida Kahlo while the nursery cohort learned about Argentina and the Iguazu Falls (pictured). The Norbury High Science Fair and Physics Challenge took place on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th May. The Physics Challenge was open to students from year groups 7-10 at our secondary academy and those who took part were rewarded with house points and certificates. Culture Day 2024 at Norbury High

Culture Day 2024 at Norbury High was another great success. The annual event offers an opportunity for our secondary academy‘s community to celebrate and learn more about its diverse cultures. This year’s festivities featured a cultural dress show with a red catwalk organised by a committee of students. Countries represented included Equador, Germany, Grenada, Jamaica, Moldova, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Wales with all ticket sale proceeds going to the school’s house charities. Studybugs Introduced at KAPS

Kensington Avenue Primary School (KAPS) has introduced Studybugs, a new app that parents and carers can use to report their child’s absence. Studybugs helps save parents time; it takes seconds to give the school all the information they need and absences don’t need to be reported during school hours. Norbury High students were invited to attend the opening of Stormzy’s Merky FC HQ on 2nd May 2024. Norbury High has announced a new partnership with Hemisphere Education. Hemisphere is a training platform that helps disrupt bias and improve racial literacy. It has been developed by Rare, multi-award-winning leaders in race equity in education and employment. Norbury High Student Victorious in Harlequins Cup Final

Norbury High student Taeanna Hanson-Ellis helped her side clinch victory in the under-16 girls’ rugby final of The Harlequins Cup on Tuesday 23rd April. Taeanna, a year 11 student at our secondary academy, was part of a joint Guildfordians/Streatham and Croydon side that beat a strong Wimbledon/Old Ruts Barbarians XV. Lianne La Havas Portrait Raises Thousands for School Choir

Tom Croft, the artist behind Portraits for NHS Heroes, has teamed up with singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas, formerly a student at our secondary academy in Norbury, to help raise funds for the school’s choir.
